Terms and conditions.
These are the rules every Western Cars rental runs on. Nothing here is hidden until the counter — read it before you book, and call us if anything is unclear.

Rental requirements
Renters must be at least 23 years old, have held a valid driving licence for at least three years, and present a card or other security as confirmed by Western Cars at handover. International renters must also present a valid passport.

Who may drive
Only the renter, and any additional driver named on the rental agreement and approved by Western Cars, may drive the vehicle. Damage or loss that happens while any other person is driving is not covered, and the renter is liable in full.

Rental period
Extensions of the rental period are subject to vehicle availability and must be arranged in advance.

The rental day
Rental is charged per 24 hours from the time you collect the vehicle, with a minimum of one rental day. You may collect and return at any time we are open. A return within 15 minutes after the end of a 24-hour period is not charged; a later return starts a further rental day. The price you are shown before you book already includes this for your booked return time.

Late return
Please return the vehicle by the date and time shown on your booking. We allow 15 minutes of grace. A vehicle returned more than 15 minutes after that time is charged one additional rental day, and a further rental day for each day after that.

Unlimited mileage
All rentals include unlimited mileage. Drive as far as you like on Mahe. There is no distance limit and no charge per kilometre.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is supplied with a set fuel level, recorded at collection. Please return it at the same level. A vehicle returned with less fuel is charged for the missing fuel at pump price plus a EUR 30 refuelling charge. No refund is given for fuel above the level recorded at collection. With prepaid full fuel, you may return the vehicle at any fuel level.

Insurance and liability
The renter is responsible for any damage or loss to the vehicle, including theft, during the rental period, up to the amount of the excess.

Prohibited use
The vehicle must not be driven into water, or on beaches, sand, or unsurfaced roads and tracks. Where a beach has a proper parking area you are welcome to use it; parking on sand is at your own risk. The vehicle must also not be used for racing, towing, or any illegal activity. Damage, recovery or cleaning arising from any of this is the renter’s responsibility in full, whatever protection has been taken.

If you have an accident
Call the police first and obtain a report, then call Western Cars on +248 256 1162. If you are unsure what to do, call Western Cars first and we will guide you. Do not move or arrange repair of the vehicle before speaking to us. Without a police report an insurer may refuse the claim, and the renter may become liable for the full cost.

If the vehicle cannot be driven
If the vehicle becomes stuck or cannot be driven, call Western Cars immediately. Do not attempt recovery yourself and do not accept help that may damage the vehicle. Where the vehicle became stuck through use not permitted under these terms, the renter is responsible for the cost of recovery.

Traffic fines
The renter is responsible for all traffic fines, parking penalties and related charges incurred during the rental period. Where Western Cars receives and processes such a notice, an administration fee of EUR 25 applies for each one.

Lost keys
If the keys are lost or damaged, the renter pays the cost of replacing the key and, where required, the lock, plus delivery to Seychelles. The rental continues to be charged at the daily rate until the vehicle can be hired out again.

No smoking
Smoking and vaping are not permitted in any Western Cars vehicle. A vehicle returned smelling of smoke is charged the cleaning fee.

Cleaning fee
A cleaning fee of EUR 50 applies if the vehicle is returned extremely dirty.

Belongings left in the vehicle
Western Cars is not responsible for personal belongings left in a vehicle. If we find something, we will hold it and return it to you free of charge anywhere on Mahe. If you have left Mahe or the country, we are happy to post it to you at your cost.

Termination of agreement
Western Cars Seychelles reserves the right to terminate the rental agreement if these terms and conditions are violated.

Governing law
Any disputes arising from the rental agreement shall be governed by the laws of Seychelles.
