A calmer way to drive Mahé.

The island is compact, scenic and full of bends. Take your time, keep your eyes up and let the road set the pace.

Drive on the left

Traffic keeps left in Seychelles. Take a moment to settle into the car before leaving the airport or jetty, especially when joining a roundabout.

Take the bends slowly

Mahé roads can be narrow, steep and winding. Use a speed that lets you stop within the space you can see, and be patient around blind corners and buses.

Expect changing weather

Rain can make hills and bends slippery. Slow down, leave more distance and avoid rushing between viewpoints when the weather changes.

Plan your route

Download or save the route before heading into areas where mobile signal may be weaker. Build in extra time for Victoria and the airport, especially around busy periods.

Park and leave nothing visible

Use proper parking areas where available and take valuables with you when you leave the car. Close the vehicle and check that it is locked.
